Vasco beats Marcílio Dias and advances in the Copa do Brasil

Even without being brilliant, the Vasco confirmed favoritism and won the Marcílio Dias 3-1, this Tuesday (27), at the Hercílio Luz stadium, in Itajaí (SC), guaranteeing a place in the second phase of the Copa do Brasil.

The start of the game was eventful, with Vegetti scoring for Vasco in the 10th minute and Zé Eduardo equalizing in the 15th minute. The 1-1 remained until the final stretch of the first half

Marcílio Dias also turns his attention to the state championship. Vice-leader of Santa Catarina and guaranteed in the quarter-finals at least in second place, the team faces Brusque next Saturday (2), at 4:30 pm (Brasília time), in search of the overall leadership of the first phase.

The game

The match started open, and both teams showed efficiency in attack. Before 15 minutes, the duel was tied at 1-1.

Vasco dominated the rest of the first half and ended up winning at the end. Controlling ball possession and being more dangerous, Cruzmaltino managed to regain the advantage with a goal from Adson, in the final stretch of the first stage.

Added madness! After the 45th minute, both teams had clear opportunities to score. Téssio, from Marcílio Dias, hit the post and saw Léo Jardim make a great save. On Vasco’s side, Vegetti and Medel stopped at goalkeeper Filipe.

Léo Jardim was hero and villain at the beginning of the second half. Milani almost scored after Vasco’s goalkeeper missed a corner, in the 10th minute. Four minutes later, Léo Jardim made a great save from Téssio’s cross shot.

David reassured the Vasco fans, who celebrated at Hercílio Luz. With a goal in the 30th minute of the second half, the striker cooled the hosts’ momentum – and the match as a whole. On the other hand, he lit up the Cruzmaltina fans, who celebrated the classification away from home.
