Vasco’s promise was to be aggressive in the market, but making it a priority to resolve issues that remained from last season. With Praxedes joining the squad in the pre-season in Uruguay, the Rio club resolved all the renewal issues requested by Ramón Díaz.
The midfielder, who belongs to Red Bull Bragantino, was the last name to have the deal completed. Officially, Vasco has not yet announced the renewal, but Praxedes remains until December, with a purchase obligation worth around R$15.8 million.
Before him, Vasco agreed to buy Paulo Henrique – from Atlético-MG – and midfielder Matheus Carvalho – from Náutico. Defender Maicon, striker Rossi and midfielder Zé Gabriel, who would be out of contract until the end of 2023, also had their contracts renewed.
On the other hand, the football management does not create expectations among the fans. Football director, Alexandre Mattos, confirmed that Vasco is on the market, but avoided making promises for the future, the intention is to be punctual and assertive in the market.
“Fans must know that the path is still one of paving, of growth, with a well-made plan. It won’t happen overnight. We have an obligation to do this, but we have a road ahead. Vasco has been growing in structure, internal processes have been growing. We need to improve the base category. We need to settle our debts,” commented during the official presentation.
“The title comes with a serious, medium to long-term project. Vasco will be able to win and they will know why. It doesn’t mean that Vasco won’t beat Carioca. Our plan is to enter to win. This is Vasco. We have conditions. If the other wins, it’s because he was better. Title is the consequence of a series of factors and decision-making”concluded the leader.
