Uruguayan president condemns Lula’s speech to Maduro about creating a ‘narrative’ in Venezuela

Brasilia DF) – Uruguayan President Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou said he was surprised this Tuesday (30) by the speech by his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), that there were “narratives” about the political situation in Venezuela.

“I am surprised when people talk about Venezuela being a narrative. You already know what we think about Venezuela and the government of Venezuela”, said the Uruguayan president, during a meeting organized by Lula himself in Brasília.

This Tuesday, Lula is holding a meeting between presidents of South America to seek a new form of integration in the region.

The day before, the Brazilian representative received the Venezuelan dictator, Nicolás Maduro, on an official visit. At the time, the Brazilian said that it was a “narrative” of the accusations of lack of democracy in Venezuela.

“It is up to Venezuela to show its narrative so that it can effectively make people change their minds. It is necessary that you [Maduro] build your narrative. And your narrative will be infinitely better than what they have told against you. It’s in your hands to build your narrative and turn this game around, so that we can win definitively, and Venezuela will return to being a sovereign country, where only its people, through free voting, can say who will govern this country ”, said Lula, at the time.
