Union Summit sees Celso Sabino well positioned to occupy ministry – 01/06/2023 – Panel

Members of the União Brasil summit have evaluated the name of Deputy Celso Sabino (União-PA) as a good option to take over a ministry if President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) decides to review the folders handed over to the party.

Leader Elmar Nascimento (BA) expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the ministries were distributed to Lula on Wednesday (31) and gave a briefing on how the Chamber bench does not feel represented. Former Senate President Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP) was the guarantor of the choices.

According to reports, the president listened, but did not advance on the possibility of replacement.

Celso Sabino has good traffic with Elmar, with the president of the party, Luciano Bivar (PE), and the mayor, Arthur Lira (PP-AL). As a result, he would be in a better position and have more articulation capacity to garner votes on important matters for the government.

In that case, to please the party’s parliamentarians, the replacement would have to take place in the Ministry of Tourism, headed today by Daniela Carneiro. The minister must leave the Union in the period of the window to join the Republicans, which would open the space for someone aligned to the summit.

Still, the bets are that the relationship can improve, but it should remain conflicted. Tourism is seen as an unattractive ministry due to its low budget and criticism remains regarding the appointment of positions and payment of amendments.

This Thursday (1st), Lula said that he will only carry out a ministerial reform if there is a “catastrophe”. “For now, the team is playing better than Corinthians,” he joked.

Lira, in an interview with GloboNews, defended that Lula review the folders to broaden the base.

“It is logical that in a conversation between leaders, part of the political articulation or with the President of the Republic or with the President of the Chamber, that same solution be given to other parties that he wants [para] increase the base. What is wrong with it? What’s different about it? What’s weird about that?”, said Lira.
