Uninorte invests in practical activities to develop students in training

The Mock Jury is one of the projects carried out with the aim of strengthening teaching and practice for Law students

Manaus (AM) — To enrich the academic practice of future law professionals, Uninorte – Centro Universitário do Norte promotes the internal Mock Jury, where students simulate a court, debating legal cases. The competition involves Law courses from the three Uninorte units, located in the Center, Djalma Batista and Cidade Nova, and promotes an important moment of practice for students.

As the coordinator of the Legal Practices Center (NPJ) at Uninorte, professor Erick Nobre, explains, “the objective of the simulated jury is to stimulate the development of legal argumentation and oratory, as well as showing the practice of theoretical teaching learned in the classroom.”

Uninorte’s Mock Jury takes place once a year and mobilizes the Institution’s Law academics. From the competition, students are selected who will represent Uninorte in state academic competitions, promoted by bodies such as the Brazilian Bar Association, Seccional Amazonas (OAB Amazonas), State Public Ministry (MPAM) and Court of Justice of Amazonas (TJAM). .

The practice has been successful: Uninorte stands out in the main competitions, always on the podium of the Mock Juries and Legal Games promoted in Amazonas. In 2023, Uninorte won 1st place in teams in the XIX MPAM Simulated Jury, in addition to taking first, second and third place on the podium in the ‘Individual Highlights’ category – an unprecedented feat in the history of the competition. Uninorte was also champion in the OAB-AM Legal Games in 2020 and the Mock Jury in 2022.

One of the champion students in Simulated Juries by Uninorte is Eliude Soutelo, finalist in the Law course. She shares the feeling of winning competitions representing the University Center.

“It’s the feeling of knowing that the efforts of all of us, my colleagues, teachers and people who supported us in some way, were worth it. It is a joy to have conquered this space through a lot of work and unity”,

declares the academic.

According to the Rector of Uninorte, Iyad Amado, actions like these contribute to the full development of the student.

“Projects like this reinforce Uninorte’s commitment to quality education and the transformation of our students into champions in their personal and professional lives,”
