With Manchester City’s victory in the Champions League this Saturday (10), Oasis fans were excited about a possible return of the rock band, which was successful in the 1990s and 2000s.

This happens because the brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher are fans of the English team and the hits of the artists became the club’s anthems. There were rumors that the band, which came to an end in 2009 after disagreements between the two, would return after the English championship title. Rumors arose when Liam posted on social media in May about the chance to get back together with his brother if the team won. “If Manchester City wins the Champions League I’ll call my brother and bring the f***ing band back,” he wrote, in a now-deleted post.

He also responded to a fan who asked: “Will Oasis come back if Manchester City win the Champions League? Is that a possibility?”. “I’m ready for this,” Liam said.

His brother Noel also made a promise that was published on Manchester City’s website. He said that if the club were champions and player Erling Haaland scored three goals in the final, he would play wearing only underwear with his current band, High Flying Birds.

The Gallaghers have a long history with the team. They were born and raised in the suburbs of Manchester, England, in the 1960s and 1970s. Since they were children, they watched football matches at the club’s stadium.

The band’s first album, “Definetely Maybe”, featured a reference to Manchester City on the cover. A photograph of Rodney Marsh, a forward in the 1970s, appeared in the bottom right corner.

By the time they reached stardom, Oasis were much more famous than the team. Football was one of Noel’s favorite subjects, and he frequently mentioned the team in interviews, which helped to bring public recognition to the English club.

The band also played two historic shows at Maine Road, which was Manchester City’s home ground for 80 years. The tickets had a picture of Noel, Liam and bassist Guigsy dressed in the team’s shirt and sitting on the stadium’s chairs.

Despite the brothers’ comments, so far there has been no official announcement of an actual return to the stage.
