The Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) reported that it removed a student from the institution’s law course after a complaint of racism, homophobia and apology for Nazism, made by the state deputy of Paraná Ana Júlia Ribeiro (PT).

The parliamentarian released audios on her social networks in which a male voice, in messages that would have been sent to a member of a UFPR study group, uses expressions such as “bichonas” and “pardinhos”.

After citing a German surname, the voice comments: “It has the genealogy there, the names of my father and my mother. We are white. True white. German gene. Then I look at you there… Pardinho, mixed up”.

In a note, the UFPR pointed out that, “in addition to the removal [do
estudante], the case has already been forwarded to the disciplinary commission, which initiates the process, guaranteeing the right to full defense”. The institution did not release the name of the student.

The university added that it “does not tolerate any form of discrimination or violence, whether physical, verbal or symbolic. We live in a democratically organized society and the legal procedure must be respected for the good of all, with the right to full defense”.

The Paraná Civil Police reported that for the time being no police report on the case has been registered. The deputy stated that she will trigger the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
