The purpose of the event is to expose students’ imagination, enabling experimentation with unconventional materials within the textile industry.

Manaus (AM) – With the aim of exercising the creativity of design course students, the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam) will hold, on November 1st, the 2nd edition of the “Conceptual Parade”, in the Rio Javari auditorium of the Faculty of Technology , at 2pm. The purpose of the event is to expose students’ imagination, enabling experimentation with unconventional materials within the textile industry.

The fashion show is the result of the work of students from the Design and Graphic Expression department – DEG/UFAM, in the disciplines of Three-Dimensional Representation I and Fashion Design. According to professor Magnólia Grangeiro Quirino, project advisor, 20 pieces developed by approximately fifty students will be presented to the public.

The event will feature several themes chosen by the students themselves, however, the central focus will be Conceptual Design, which explores the imaginary without compromising the manufacturing process.

This semester, the discipline encourages reflection on productive means and the use of products, combined with current technology and the possibilities of new technologies.

“The Conceptual Parade aims to exercise students’ creativity without the commitment required by the manufacturing process, in addition to enabling the use of exaggerated proportions in products, above anthropometric recommendations and comfortable use”,

explains the teacher.

Expectations

For Magnólia Quirino, professor of the design course at Ufam for 16 years, the 2nd edition of the “Conceptual Parade” will “present the academic potential, converging with the creative process for professional confrontation in the field of design in the city of Manaus”.

The professor states that the event will be aimed at the course’s students, their families and the Ufam external community, as the parade will be open to the public.

“To conclude the subjects, I, together with the students, decided to hold a parade with the exhibition of products that were created during the semester. Anyone attending the work can expect relaxation, creativity and inspiration in the pieces”,

said Magnolia.

The fashion show is the result of the “Fashion Design” discipline, which addressed themes about the renowned designers who consolidated the profession of Fashion Designer; knowledge about fabrics and materials; drawing of the human figure for fashion at sketch level; Conceptual Design, among others.

For the Three-Dimensional Representation Discipline, the focus was first on Modeling, Serial Plan and Articulating System. In the academic context, Three-Dimensional Representation I develops basic three-dimensional representation techniques. This occurs through the application of methods such as cutting, folding, gluing and rough surface finishing, seeking volumetric representation in the pieces. This discipline provides the essential foundations for understanding and visually communicating projects in three dimensions.

Meanwhile, the Fashion Design discipline addresses the world of fashion, incorporating the technical-scientific knowledge of Design. This integration allows for expanded visual projections on fashion-related products. Students who dedicate themselves to this discipline acquire valuable skills to work in the fashion industry, understanding the complexities of clothing and accessory design.

The two disciplines stand out for their importance in training qualified and creative professionals and represent fundamental pillars in the Design course, preparing students to explore new frontiers and challenges in their respective careers.

“The results presented at the Parade are conceptual products that are not suitable for use, however, they are inspirations for new ideas”,

says Magnólia Quirino.
