TRF-6 holds an event in a luxury inn with a freemason lecture – 11/10/2023 – Power

The Federal Regional Court of the 6th Region, based in Belo Horizonte, reserved 80% of the apartments in a luxurious guesthouse in Tiradentes, 190 km from the capital, to promote its first event with magistrates and authorities over a long weekend.

The inauguration of the headquarters of the Federal Court of São João del-Rei, neighboring Tiradentes, served as a pretext for a joint action by the TRF-6 School of Judiciary, funded in part with public resources, and the Association of Federal Judges of Minas Gerais (Ajufemg). The meeting runs until this Sunday (12).

The school organized a “scientific program” that included a lecture by the president of the Brazilian Masonic Confederation, Cristian Adrian Flores Maldonado. The school director, TRF judge Grégore Moreira de Moura, is a member of Freemasonry.

Moura is a former attorney at the Attorney General’s Office and professor at PUC-MG. He was elected by the STJ (Superior Court of Justice) and appointed to the TRF-6 by then president Jair Bolsonaro.

In August, Maldonado participated in a solemn session in the Senate to celebrate Freemason’s Day, following a request that had Senator Hamilton Mourão (Republicanos-RS) as one of the authors.

The school’s programming is justified as a proposal for “the development of interpersonal skills, fundamental for a more humanized performance of the Judiciary”.

“The aim is to encourage the development of self-control in the face of challenging situations and to present efficient and proactive communication techniques”, informs the event notice. The Pequena Tiradentes guesthouse has 74 apartments, a spa, a heated pool and an auditorium for 700 people. The package for three nights costs R$2,643 (single) and R$2,796 for a couple. The cost assistance will be divided between the school and the association. The court will pay R$1,750 to the judges as daily allowances.

Ajufemg associate judges will have a reduction in their accommodation payments.

The TRF-6 did not send the official schedule and the list of authorities requested by the Sheet. It also did not report the total expenses for the event.

The Federal Justice Inspector, Minister Og Fernandes, will participate in the inauguration of the new Federal Justice headquarters, in São João del-Rei. He will accompany the visit to Apac (Association for the Protection and Assistance of Convicts).

As occurred in other TRF-6 events, the president of the STJ and the Federal Justice Council, Maria Thereza de Assis Moura, was invited, but will not participate.

She did not go to the ceremony for the installation of the new court, in 2022, nor to the dinner that followed. She also did not attend a dinner held by judges in her honor.

TRF-6, based in Minas Gerais, was created from a spin-off of TRF-1 (based in Brasília) and covers only the state of Minas Gerais. The ceremony to install the new court served as the stage for a political speech by the then candidate for reelection, Jair Bolsonaro.

There was haste to create the new court, a process that went through the administrations of STJ presidents João Otávio de Noronha (2018-20) and Humberto Martins (2020-22).

The approval of TRF-6 was preceded by the distribution, by the Federal Court of Minas Gerais, of plaques and medals to authorities committed to the creation of the new court. Noronha nominated two candidates among the judges of the new court.

The president of TRF-6, Mônica Sifuentes, stated that the inauguration of the São João Del Rei Subsection headquarters is “a demand that has been going on since the inauguration of the Federal Court more than 20 years ago, the old building proved to be incompatible with the full functioning of the Federal Justice”.

“The acquisition of the property was made with a value registered in the Union’s active debt and which would hardly have been received through another acquisition methodology.”

He said that the meeting promoted by the School of Judiciary, “in addition to the scientific program, under the responsibility of the school, is the first real opportunity for contact between TRF magistrates and first-degree judges to deal with the most varied topics, enabling an improvement of the court’s operating processes”.

The TRF-6 press office reported that it was unable to contact Grégore Moura to comment on the lecture given by the president of the Brazilian Masonic Confederation.
