The presenter demanded measures from the São Paulo city council after damage caused by heavy rain

Ana Maria Braga showed the destruction in her home after the heavy rain that hit São Paulo on Monday afternoon (8). Branches from a tree fell and destroyed part of the roof of the balcony of the presenter’s house located in the west zone of the capital of São Paulo.

“We scared you, not to say a bad word, here at home. What happened? My house is here in the Pinheiros subprefecture. I have a house that has a lot of trees, and I take care of them, there are several boys who come here and take care of them. We have to make a request [para a subprefeitura] to be able to prune. These trees that are all numbered, I take care of them as if they were my daughters”, said Ana Maria Braga in a video published on her social networks.

Ana Maria was very indignant with the São Paulo City Council regarding the inconvenience caused by the rain since the care for the trees comes from the municipality.

In a note published by the Splash Uol website, the city council responded to the presenter.

“São Paulo City Hall countered the presenter. “Management of trees in a private area is the responsibility of the site owner. Therefore, aiming to make the tree pruning process in private areas more agile, Law 17.267/20 was sanctioned, which came into force in January 2020, in the city of São Paulo. […] It is worth mentioning that the presenter filed a request for authorization to manage the tree located within the property on September 21st of last year, which was authorized by the regional administration on the 26th of that month, therefore, five days later”, says the official note sent to Splash.
