Trans servant retires based on civil registration – 04/11/2023 – Panel

The Official Gazette of the Court of Auditors of the State of Santa Catarina published this Monday (10) the retirement of a servant of the city hall of Itajaí, a municipality in the north of the state, who made the transition from male to female.
The servant, a doctor from the city hall, asked that the rules follow the criteria for women, whose minimum age for retirement is 62 years, against 65 in the case of men.
Last year, the TCE-SC had already decided to accept the server’s request, but the technical analysis carried out by the Court’s Personnel Acts Directorate was only now completed, finalizing the process.
There is an expectation that the case will serve as a precedent for other similar decisions related to public servants in Brazil.
Last year, the decision was mocked by then state deputy Kennedy Nunes (PTB). “You are a man, do you want to retire early? You become trans”, he said, in a video posted on his networks.
