Toffoli drops confidentiality of actions regarding NGO investigation – 02/06/2024 – Power

The minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Dias Toffoli suspended this Tuesday (6) the secrecy of the actions in which he ordered an investigation into the NGO Transparency International and which interrupted the payment of fines under the leniency agreement of Novonor (formerly Odebrecht ).
Toffoli considered that, given the publicity given to the case, “maintaining the secrecy initially imposed is no longer justified.”
As a result, process documents are made public. The minister, however, considered that the Judiciary Secretariat must preserve confidential the documents that may be used in the future in the rapporteur’s decisions.
This Monday (5), Toffoli ordered that the NGO be investigated for allegedly misappropriating public resources at the time of Operation Lava Jato.
The PGR (Attorney General’s Office) itself endorsed, in 2020, the information that the entity did not receive remuneration for the assistance provided in leniency.
The suspension of payment of the agreement between Novonor (formerly Odebrecht) and the MPF (Federal Public Ministry) was taken on January 31, until the holding company that owns the construction company is able to analyze all the material related to Operation Spoofing, which dealt with dialogues between prosecutors from the extinct Lava Jato task force.
