On Monday (22) the Court of Justice of Amapá, through the State Coordination for Children and Youth of the State of Amapá (CEIJ), which has Judge Gilberto Pinheiro as its coordinator, delivered 26 kimonos and 10 tatami mats designed for children from the Carlos Galeno Teen Social Project, which works at the Associação da Divina Misericórdia, in the Cidade Nova 1 neighborhood, in Macapá.
“As a child, I knew what it was like to want something and not have it. That’s why it’s important to donate these kimonos and mats to these kids. With everyone’s effort, we were able to make this donation to the children who will participate in a championship”highlighted the CEIJ coordinator, judge Gilbert Pinheiro.
For 10 years, the “Carlos Galeno Teen” Social Project has been offering classes in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing and Judo to children and adolescents in socially vulnerable situations and helping the Cidade Nova neighborhood community 1 with sports practices.
“I feel pride, gratitude and respect for the Court of Justice, through Judge Gilberto Pinheiro, for being able to compete, take the students and the victory that is obtained will be offered to everyone who helped these children”said the teacher Carlos Soares.
Classes take place at the Divina Misericórdia Community Center on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. To be part of the project, the student must be between 07 and 17 years old, be enrolled in the School and have good grades. In addition, the student must not miss training without justification. Currently, the project serves 55 children.
The young Kerlison, 17 years old, has been in the project for over two years and says that participating in the Jiu-Jitsu championship for the first time is very exciting. Like him, several children in the neighborhood are having the opportunity through sport to have a more dignified life and hope for a better future.
