The Court of Justice of Rio Grande do Sul spent BRL 1.79 million to buy five luxury cars from the Audi brand in a bid with specific criteria that ruled out another proposal of lesser value.

The vehicles of the A4 S Line line, an executive sedan, were acquired from the company Germany Comércio de Veículos e Peças Ltda. and must be delivered within 180 days. According to the announcement, the object of the auction should have, among other requirements, a “wheelbase of 2,820mm”, “length of 4,760mm”, “width of 1,846mm” and “height of 1,400mm”.

Questioned by the specific technical details of the public notice, the vice-president of the Court of Justice and responsible for Communication, the judge Antônio Vinicius Amaro da Silveira said that other companies had applied, but offered higher prices or a vehicle that did not fit the requirements of the public notice.

According to the investigation of Gaúcha Zero Hora, the runner-up was BMW, with a total value of more than R$ 3 million. There was also a higher offer made by Mercedes, but a more affordable one by Toyota, which would not have met the specifications or requirements of the public notice.

“The acquisition of representation vehicles, through bidding in the electronic auction modality, at the lowest price, which aims to maintain the security, comfort and economy of authorities and servants in the necessary displacements of the Administration, in compliance with constitutional principles, with the good management of resources and public services, optimizing the working conditions of the Administration to fulfill its jurisdictional function”, he told the report.

The TJ-RS also informed that the current official vehicles – two Kia Cadenza acquired in 2012 and another two in 2013, and a Ford Fusion from 2013 – will be donated to “public bodies and charitable and assistance entities”.

“To illustrate, in the last year alone (Feb/22 to Jul/23), the Judiciary in Rio Grande do Sul donated 13 cars for this purpose. Finally, the resources belong to the Judiciary, and the heading cannot be used for personnel expenses”, he added.
