The Regional Electoral Court of Amapá (TRE-AP) concluded, this Tuesday (7), the trial of the electoral judicial investigation action (Aije) against state deputy Kaká Barbosa and federal deputy Sonize Barbosa, both from the Liberal Party ( PL). Last week, the Court had formed a majority (6×0) for the revocation of the couple’s mandate (Kaká and Sonize are husband and wife), but judges Orlando Vasconcelos, Paola Santos and Thina Souza changed their vote and began to follow the open divergence. by judge João Lages in the vote, seen by the dismissal of the electoral judicial investigation action against the two parliamentarians.
As a result, the score, which was 6-0 due to revocation, ineligibility and fine, became four to three due to Aije’s dismissal. Judges Carmo Antônio (rapporteur), Anselmo Gonçalves and Normandes Souza maintained their votes from the previous session.
Kaká Barbosa and Sonize Barbosa were tried on charges of illegally transporting voters in the 2022 election.
Lawyers even commented that the impeachment of the two parliamentarians would cause a tsunami in the Liberal Party, as with the annulment of Sonize’s votes, deputies Vinícius Gurgel and Silvia Waiãpi on the federal bench would lose their mandate, being replaced by Evandro Milhomem, Alba Nize Colares and Mauro Secco . In the Legislative Assembly, Kaká Barbosa would be replaced by Arnóbio Flexa.
