The Government of São Paulo will pay a scholarship of R$800 reais to 450 students who are approved for USP through Provão Paulista, a serial entrance exam created last year by the Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) administration.

The term of the agreement between the state and the university was published this Friday (12) in the Official Gazette and provides for an investment of R$64.8 million.

The duration of the scholarship, which aims to help the student remain at the university, will be 60 months, between April 2024 and April 2029.

According to the program prepared by the Tarcísio administration and USP, students who have completed all their secondary education in public schools and who demonstrate socioeconomic vulnerability will benefit. Per capita family income cannot exceed 1.5 minimum wages.

The selection of beneficiaries will also follow the order of classification in the Provão Paulista, which began last year and is applied in state schools in São Paulo.

In order to continue receiving the scholarship at USP throughout the course, the student must have a semester average greater than or equal to the minimum grade required for the course in at least 60% of the subjects.

You must also have the minimum attendance set out in your course regulations.

“We want students in vulnerable situations to recognize, from now on, that USP is a place where they deserve and should be. This started with Provão and is now reinforced with the scholarship”, stated Renato Feder, State Secretary of Education .
