Registration will be made available through a computerized system, with restricted and exclusive access

State deputy Thiago Abrahim (União Brasil) presented this Tuesday, 10th, bill No. 791/2023 which provides for the creation of a state register of information to combat violence against women.

“The rates of violence against women are alarming in Amazonas. The state registry aims to gather information on people with final and unappealable convictions for crimes based on the Maria da Penha Law”,

explained Abraham.

According to the bill, the registration will be made available through a computerized system, with restricted and exclusive access to members of the Public Ministry, the Public Defender’s Office, the Judiciary and the Civil and Military Police.

“The registration will bring together the aggressor’s personal data, photo, home address, circumstances and location where the crime was committed. The bill creates mechanisms to curb family violence within the State of Amazonas and, consequently, aims to facilitate identification and investigation by the competent authorities”,

said the parliamentarian.

Data from the Amazonas Health Surveillance Foundation — Dr. Rosemary Costa Pinto (FVS-RCP) indicates 4,000 cases of violence against women in Amazonas in 2022. The number represents an increase of 15.17% compared to 2021.

“We cannot allow these attackers to remain free and at risk of attacking other women. It is important that the competent bodies have tools so that they can monitor each case and that these aggressors are punished”,

concluded Abraham.

According to the matter, the law in question will come into force after ninety days of its government sanction.

Guidance

Victims of domestic violence must register a Police Report (BO) directly at one of the three Police Stations Specialized in Crimes against Women, in Manaus, or at the police station in their municipality and can request a restrictive measure against the aggressor.
