Manaus (AM) – The state deputy, Thiago Abrahim (União Brasil), presented, this Tuesday (11), the application nº 1.131/2023 for the installation of electric fences and metal detectors in schools of the public teaching network of the capital of Amazonas and municipalities of interior of the Amazon, as well as hiring armed security.
“This week we saw scenes of constant attacks on schools and day care centers across the country, including in Amazonas. This is a worrying topic that is very present. We must be careful about safety in schools. And, as legislators and representatives of the people, we are here precisely to debate this and present solutions”, said the deputy from the tribune of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam).
For the parliamentarian, it is necessary that the Legislative House contribute with the inspection and control of the acts of the public power.
“It is necessary that we take effective measures, even if it is something temporary, such as magazines in schools, and that we can carry out a sampling. It is important that we work on other policies such as the issue of mental health of children and young people from their first years at school, so that we have a more complete follow-up”, defended Abrahim.
The deputy from União Brasil also said that it is necessary to raise awareness among parents in order to restrict the use of the internet for their children.
“Episodes of attacks on schools and kindergartens like the one in Santa Tereza de Goiás, Blumenau and Manaus, recently reported by the media, are consumed without any filter. This safety awareness in schools starts with the parents, but it is important for the school to participate through lectures and courses for parents, in addition to restricting the use of the internet. Today, if this type of attack is publicized, much of it is due to access to the internet and forums encouraging this type of action. We need to fight this,” he concluded.
