Wajngarten spoke out after a military appointment; lawyer says details of agreement will be negotiated next week

Brasilia DF) – Former Communications Secretary of the Presidency of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Fabio Wajngarten published the phrase “there is nothing to report” on his official profile on platform X, formerly Twitter, this Thursday (8).

The phrase, written out of context, was seen as a reference to the movements of Army lieutenant colonel and Bolsonaro’s former aide-de-camp, Mauro Cid, who expressed a desire to make a plea bargain.

“To anyone who may be interested in the middle of the September 7th holiday completely empty: there is nothing to REPORT”,

he wrote, also referring to the celebrations of the September 7th holiday under the management of the Lula (PT) government.

Wajngarten, who in addition to being an advisor is also one of Bolsonaro’s lawyers, had come to Cid’s defense in July, when Bolsonaro’s former aide-de-camp gave a statement to the CPI on January 8, in progress at the National Congress.

At the time, Wajngarten protested the fact that the lieutenant colonel had been imprisoned since May and said that they detained him and “threw away the key” to the prison.

“Today he has been in prison for 70 days, without any reason to justify his preventive detention, an extreme measure and which had the expressly contrary opinion of the PGR — which, in addition, decided to revoke the prison”,

he said.

Cid went to the office of the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes on Wednesday (6), where he made the plea bargain proposal. His defense also asked for his provisional release during the meeting.

The agreement has already been accepted by the Federal Police, but still needs to be approved by the minister. The decision could come in the next few days. The proposal must also be analyzed by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).

According to people close to the investigations, for Cid’s plea agreement to be approved, they need to know what new information and evidence will be presented.

Lawyer Cezar Bittencourt previously said that the former aide-de-camp “assumed everything” and did not incriminate Bolsonaro to the PF in the case of the jewelry brought from abroad.

Bittencourt told Folha this Friday (8) that the agreement has not yet been closed. “We are talking about the details, but that’s for next week”he said.

Denunciation is a means of obtaining evidence that cannot, in isolation, support sentences without other information corroborating the statements made. The reports must be investigated, as well as the materials presented in agreement.
