As predicted, the opposition won the election in Corinthians.

Not because of his qualities, but because of the countless defects of the situation.

The result is worse than the 5 to 1 imposed by Bahia, in Itaquera, the night before the election. Because it will subject the club to three years of madness if there is no impeachment first, as some Machiavellian victorious voters predict.

It is easy to explain the behavior of those who elected Augusto Melo, barely comparing it to those who elected Javier Milei in Argentina. How to vote for the Economy Minister with inflation at 140% per year?

How to vote for the candidate supported, unwillingly, by Duilio Monteiro Alves, who won nothing in men’s football and had nothing to do with the women’s victories — and even abandoned him in the infamous episode of Cuca’s hiring?

In the name of what?

What good did he do during his tenure besides not disturbing the work in women’s football?

It’s so true that Monteiro Alves didn’t even allude to the Brabas titles when taking stock of his terrible reign over the last three years.

Women’s football can be spoiled now because director Cris Gambaré denounced, in a statement, the machismo and misogyny of the president-elect.

Women’s football that won everything it competed for in 2023, culminating in the fourth São Paulo championship, won on Sunday (26) over São Paulo, in Itaquera, in front of 40,235 thousand fans, with a resounding 4-1 rout, to crown the achievements of the fifth championship in the Brazilian Championship and also the fourth in the Libertadores.

Corinthians’ future is blank in the sense that nothing is expected of it — except more debts, more incompetence, less transparency, more black-and-white bloodsuckers now that a new gang has come to power.

The future of Corinthians is white, to be filled by the allegations that will come and will be the subject of police investigations.

Being beaten is sad for any fan, but there is no club in the world that has escaped and, if indeed big, failed to turn things around. Humiliation has the power to stimulate redemption.

The loss of composure is truly fatal, although it is true that those who have ruled and dismantled at Corinthians for 16 years are far from being an example, with the usual exceptions.
