The risk of losing the Brazilian title, which seemed guaranteed, made Botafogo consider hiring coach Cuca, sentenced to 15 months in Switzerland for a sexual crime against a minor in 1987, a sentence he did not serve and has already been prescribed.

At the time, he was imprisoned for a month in Bern, and left there, with his three partners in the heinous act, through the Brazilian embassy — and never returned to defend himself.

The recent story of his short stay in yet another mess on the Corinthians board is well known and needs no repetition.
