Denialists have been among us forever, but they have never been so common. They didn’t even have that name until a few years ago.

Used to label those who refuse to admit obvious facts, the word has been circulating since news about global warming began to come out.

In tow came brucutus who want to roast the Amazon because it makes no difference. The rhetorical scoundrels, unleashing firecrackers every time a place registers record cold – proof of the leftist environmental conspiracy.

The Covid-19 pandemic brought a worldwide outbreak of denialism. They denied the effectiveness of the vaccine. They denied the very existence of the disease, a little flu.

The quixotic struggle with reality has to do with looseness of character and cognitive impairment, usually a combination of both.

There are idiots who refuse to see the curvature of the Earth. There are suckers saying that order helper doesn’t obey orders, doesn’t help and, on the contrary, gets in the way.

The 2023 season introduced us to the picanha deniers. They reject an obvious fact: the price of meat plummeted after Bolsonaro left the presidency.

It should be noted that the course of events was particularly cruel to these people.

First, in the campaign, Lula said that Brazilians would eat picanha again. Typical candidate bravado. Exhibition of gogó in which Lula was always virtuous.

It’s no use showing that the weight of the rump cap is proportional to the weight of the carcass – and today’s cattle are bigger than their 20th-century ancestors.

It makes even less sense to argue that the picanhas were already that size last year. Had it been a hard top, the price would have dropped accordingly.

Was it Lula? Was it the absence of an arsonist madman in the presidency of Brazil? Was it the grain harvest? Was it divine help? Was it a butterfly that flew off in Nepal?
