This Friday (12), the Brazilian team met their opponents in the first phase of the Copa América de Futsal. In a draw carried out by CONMEBOL, the groups for the initial stage of the competition were defined. Brazil is in Group B, and faces Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia and Peru. In Group A are Paraguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Chile.
The tournament will be held between February 2nd and 10th, in Luque, Paraguay. Amarelinha begins preparations on January 20th, in Gramado, where the athletes and committee will remain concentrated until the 30th of the same month.
The Copa América is worth a place in the World Cup. The two best placed in each group, in addition to qualifying for the semi-finals, also guarantee participation in the World Cup.
Coach Marquinhos Xavier evaluated Brazil’s opponents and revealed the objectives for the competition. “It’s a balanced group, but there are two qualifying positions for the World Cup in each group, so our goal, at this point, is to qualify for the World Cup. This Copa América is mixed with a qualifier, so it has an even more important connotation. Our first objective is to qualify and the second is to win the championship.”
“We know the difficulties we will face, they are competent opponents, but we also have a lot of confidence in our preparation and our technical condition, as Brazil has been making important preparations throughout this cycle, aiming for the World Cup”concluded.
