Text of the Senate’s tax reform maintains ZFM’s competitiveness, says deputy

Member of the Working Group that analyzes Tax Reform in the Chamber, federal deputy Saullo Vianna (União-AM) defended a mobilization of the Amazonas bench in order to approve the report on the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC), produced by the Amazonian parliamentarian Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM). The matter returns, this week, to analysis in the House after changes to the text approved in the Senate.

In Vianna’s assessment, the tax reform underwent changes that are positive for the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM). Member of the Tax Reform Working Group in the Chamber, Saullo Vianna noted that the creation of an Intervention Contribution in the Economic Domain (Cide) for ZFM products brings more legal security to businesspeople who invest, produce and generate 500 thousand direct jobs and indirect, in addition to wealth for the state.

The federal deputy has the same understanding in relation to the creation of the Sustainable Development Fund for the States of the Western Amazon and Amapá, to serve free trade areas. For Vianna, a union of political, business forces and workers’ representatives must mobilize to seek support to face other states in approving the Senate text.

“The changes to the PEC meet the basic premises we proposed. They simplify this tax madhouse that prevails in our country, and which inhibits investments in Brazil, and, above all, they seek a less regressive and fairer system, which takes into account those at the bottom of the income pyramid, where those who earn less pay less and those who earn more pay more”,

summarized Vianna.

AM victory – For him, the Senate report was a victory for Amazonas and the state bench in Congress. “Now, our work will be to accelerate the coordination and mobilization of allied forces to approve this text in the Chamber as it came from the Senate, so that we can deliver the most important reform of this century to the country”, he revealed.
