Ten state schools receive broadband internet – News of Brazil

The Barão do Rio Branco State School, in Macapá, was the first of 10 educational institutions that will receive high-speed internet, benefiting over a thousand students. The initiative is part of the “Norte Conectado” program, promoted in partnership with the National Education and Research Network (RNP), of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The governor, Clécio Luís, participated on Thursday, 6, in the official launch of the project in Amapá.
The digital inclusion of state schools is one of the priorities of the new management, which in six months, intends to promote strategies to connect all state units.
“Today is a historic day for the State Government. Schools leave the megas and go to the speed gigs. It is up to us, now, to develop technologies and methods so that the internet can be used in its fullness and improve the daily lives of our students in schools”stressed the governor.
High-speed Internet was possible thanks to the school’s connection to the Metropolitan Community Network for Teaching and Research in Amapá (Metroap). This interconnection is part of the “Norte Conectado” project, promoted by RNP and financed by the Ministry of Communications (MCom) and Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI).
“Internet has long been important to everything we do. The idea is to bring technology solutions with low environmental impact to the Amazon, and make it possible for everyone to have access. Today we take another step towards digital inclusion”said Nelson Simões, general director of RNP.

The objective of the project is to insert platforms and digital resources in the classroom. For the 9th grade teacher, Marlene Vilhena, the measure will help to modernize the teaching-learning process of more than a thousand students at EE Barão do Rio Branco.
“The internet is a tool that makes a difference, and reinforces our entire research practice. Here, students will have the opportunity to interact with the world, but with a differential: the guidance of the teacher. This guidance is essential, and only the school can offer this opportunity.”said the teacher.
The Secretary of State for Education, Sandra Casimiro, also emphasizes the pedagogical importance of digital resources, and reinforces that, now, students no longer need to go to the computer lab to use the internet.
“Technological resources are very welcome to help students learn. This is just the beginning of a partnership that will bear much fruit. With these initiatives, we are going to turn education around in our state.”assured Sandra.
Also participating in the ceremony were the Secretary of State for Science and Technology, Edivan Andrade, and the president of the Information Technology Management Center (Prodap), Cirilo Simões Filho.
