The Federal Court of Auditors (TCU) asked the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic to provide detailed information on the trip of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to Orlando, in the United States, on December 30, 2022, unless two days before the end of the term. The order was determined on May 11 and released this Tuesday (23) (see in full).

In the request authored by former deputy Elias Vaz de Andrade (PSB-GO), who today acts as secretary of legislative affairs of the government, the TCU asks for clarification on an alleged misuse of purpose and “misappropriation of public resources in the costing” of the trip . The former parliamentarian claims that R$ 800,000 were irregularly spent, based on news published in the media.

“Thus, considering the lack of solid information about the real motivation for the presidential trip in question, which prevent a concrete judgment on the facts, and the high materiality involved, it is concluded that there is a need to supplement the evidence collection, by carrying out due diligence ”, says the TCU in the representation.

The court gave 15 days for the Civil House to explain the list of civil servants who made up the entourage, price quotations for the provision of airport services; the nominal list of staff who were served with food; the distribution map of the apartments in case of accommodation in a hotel (accommodation grid); the report of the expenses incurred; and Federal Government Payment Card invoices referring to the months that cover expenses associated with expenses incurred during the trip.

Bolsonaro traveled to the United States at the end of 2022 shortly before the inauguration of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) as president, and returned on March 29.
