TCE de Rondônia suspends server for spreading fake news – 01/18/2023 – Panel
[ad_1]
The TCE (State Court of Auditors) of Rondônia suspended for ten days, without remuneration, a server who used social networks to spread fake news and for expressing a political position.
The decision was taken by General Inspector Edilson de Sousa Silva, responsible for judging the disciplinary administrative process initiated after a complaint. The server name was not revealed.
The inspector justified the decision by stating that the employee’s conduct is prohibited by the Code of Ethics for Civil Servants of the TCE and by the national and international norms of Public Sector Auditing.
He also highlighted that the civil servant must “maintain independence from political influence and be free from political bias”, since his party-political position can be publicly interpreted as the opinion of the institution’s Court of Auditors.
Before the suspension, the server had signed a term pledging to allow political-partisan posts to be made on social media, but failed to comply with the agreement.
