In an event paying tribute to female personalities in the country, the Amazonas Court of Auditors (TCE-AM) held the official launch of the Women’s Ombudsman’s Office. The ceremony took place this Thursday morning (4), in the Audit Court auditorium.

During the launch ceremony, the president of TCE-AM and new Women’s Ombudsman, counselor Yara Amazônia Lins, spoke about the implementation of the program within the scope of the Court.

“My commitment made when I was sworn in as president of this Court is being fulfilled. Today I want to encourage all women to have the courage to use their voice and report it, speaking out is an exercise in freedom and resistance. May the TCE-AM Women’s Ombudsman’s Office be a symbol of courage, strength, change and social transformation”, highlighted the president of the Court, counselor Yara Amazônia Lins.

Businesswoman and women’s activist, Luiza Brunet, was one of the guests of honor at the event, and congratulated the Court for its initiative in improving the work environment.

“Gender violence is a destructive pillar, not only in the workplace, but also in politics and in places of power. It’s not a fight between men and women, it’s a place of respect. Few women report it because they are ashamed of not being welcomed, and a Women’s Ombudsman’s Office is very important to make them feel welcomed and have the privacy to speak at work”, highlighted activist Luiza Brunet.

Representing the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam), state deputy Alessandra Campelo spoke about the partnership that can be developed between the legislative body and the Court of Auditors to encourage the project.

“It is a very important milestone that the Court of Auditors is installing this Ombudsman’s Office. This is where we see the importance of having women in spaces of power. If the president weren’t counselor Yara, this would hardly be happening. It is a conjunction of efforts, a large support network that joins the feminist movement that we have, to serve women every day”, stated deputy Alessandra Campelo.

The director of the Women’s Ombudsman’s Office, civil servant Ana Paula de Andrade Aguiar, discussed a little about the operationalization of the project in the Court.

“The Women’s Ombudsman’s Office, above all, will be a place of support, a place where we will be able to receive complaints, whether by email, WhatsApp, and the essential personal contact. Through these demands, we will provide the necessary referral, whether criminal or administrative, depending on each level and sphere”, explained the director of the Women’s Ombudsman, Ana Paula de Andrade Aguiar.

The event was also marked by the Awarding of the Medal of Honor to Women, established by TCE-AM in March this year.

During the ceremony, the general ombudsman of the Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPE-AM), prosecutor Jussara Maria Pordeus, spoke about the privilege of having another ombudsman’s office aimed at women in public bodies in the State.

“The inauguration of yet another women’s ombudsman’s office in a public body brings us satisfaction. We hope, in all ombudsman offices, to get involved and exchange experiences. We are able to share experiences, exchange guides and routines, so that women can increasingly have a protection network”, said the prosecutor.

Representing the State Government, the Secretary of Urban and Metropolitan Development of Amazonas, Fausto Júnior, congratulated the Court on the initiative and showed support for carrying out the actions.

“We have the women’s ombudsman’s office at the TCE, the prosecutor’s offices at the Chamber of Deputies, Aleam and the Federal Senate. We expect society to put violence against women aside. That with these tools, we can listen to women who feel violated”, highlighted the secretary.
