Tarcísio sees Antonov case overcome and cites relationship with Lula – 05/01/2023 – Politics

The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), avoided commenting this Monday (1st), in Ribeirão Preto, the crisis caused by the disclosure of information about an alleged negotiation with the Ukrainian company Antonov.

He said it was an episode “overcome”, after the resignation of the secretary of International Business, Lucas Ferraz, was considered, as shown in the column Panel, of the Sheet.

Alongside former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Tarcísio also claimed to have a republican relationship with the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

The governor was pressured by Bolsonarists and PT allies due to the crisis involving Antonov.

The case broke out after a report by CNN Brasil stated that the Ukrainian company stopped investing US$ 50 billion in Brazil due to Lula’s speeches about the war between Russia and Ukraine, which was pointed out as fake news by PT members.

CNN Brasil then published a note from the secretary commanded by Lucas Ferraz, in which the folder claimed to have received representatives from Antonov to address the issue.

The Ukrainian, however, stated in a note that she has no representatives in Brazil, which led Lula’s ministers to accuse the São Paulo government of spreading false information to harm the federal government.

On Friday (28), while Lula’s allies demanded investigation of the case by the Public Ministry, Bolsonarist networks sought to refute the criticism, based on a new report with a director of Antonov citing a preliminary negotiation with the government.

Tarcísio’s assistants were divided over the episode, with some considering that Ferraz had caused unnecessary wear and tear on the entire government, and others considering that the situation had been clarified.

Asked about the subject while visiting the Agrishow (International Fair of Agricultural Technology in Action), in Ribeirão Preto (313 km from São Paulo), Tarcísio said that he went to the fair to talk about agribusiness.

Next to Bolsonaro throughout the event, the governor also said that the absence of the Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, “does not affect business”.

“My relationship with the government is republican, there are some issues that are shared, such as health and education, this does not mean political alignment or that we do not have some criticisms of the management”, said the governor.
