Power stations distribute water in an act and bypass concessionaire – 05/01/2023 – Panel
[ad_1]
Trade union centrals distributed free water to the public that attended the May 1st act, in an action to circumvent the high prices charged by the concessionaire that manages the Anhangabaú valley.
A 300ml glass cost R$6 at points of sale, which drove most people away from the place. The presence of street vendors was restricted.
An agreement was made between the organizers and Sabesp to supply drinking water, while the centrals paid for the glasses.
The concession of the Vale and other public facilities in the city to the private sector is criticized by the centrals and by leftist parties.
In organizing the event, there had already been another point of friction with the concessionaire. As the Panel showed, the consortium that manages the space threatened not to allow the centrals to inflate balloons in the place, with the argument that this could violate the Clean City Law. The release eventually took place, however.
