Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) released this Thursday (8) a video in which former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) praises his management and also criticizes former governors of São Paulo without naming them.
“I feel proud of having collaborated with the nomination of Tarcísio for the Government of the State of São Paulo, a huge difference from previous governors”, said Bolsonaro in a video recorded from the Rio-Santos highway, on the north coast of São Paulo, stage of a tragedy with the January rains.
Bolsonaro has as opponents former São Paulo governors such as João Doria, with whom he fought duels during the pandemic, and Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), today vice president of the Republic in the government of Lula (PT).
As a recent report by the Sheetwhile relegating his political activities to the background and seeking to escape controversy, the governor of São Paulo ended up surrounded by crises, dissatisfied allies and articulation problems that appeared in recent days.
Regarded as a right-wing option in 2026, if his godfather Bolsonaro is ineligible, Tarcísio avoids putting himself on the platform in advance, as his predecessor Doria did, and initially plans to run for re-election.
Although he is engaged in a delicate political maneuver, that of waving at the same time to Bolsonarism and to the center, the governor is more dedicated to management issues, such as works and concessions, than to articulation with parties and parliamentarians – something outsourced to the experienced Gilberto Kassab (PSD), Secretary of Government and Institutional Relations.
