The airline TAP Air Portugal has just signed a technical cooperation agreement with Embratur (Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion) to promote Brazilian destinations in Europe. The agreement was concluded on Wednesday (28), during the Lisbon Tourism Exchange fair.

The agreement lasts two years and provides for a series of joint actions. These include sharing data between the Brazilian agency and the Portuguese group, joint market research and analysis, marketing actions and the holding of events and campaigns to attract tourists to the country.

“TAP is responsible for 80% of flights from Portugal to Brazil, but it is also, and mainly, the gateway from Europe to Brazil, thanks to the great connectivity with other European countries through Lisbon airport”, states the president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo.

During the signing of the agreement, Freixo heard from the airline’s CEO, Luís Rodrigues, that the company will start offering 96 weekly flights to Brazil in the European summer of this year — an increase of 20% in relation to departures recorded in the same period last year.

According to Rodrigues, the expansion represents “a historic record” for the company for the European summer, with Brazil being the country that received the most investment from the company in terms of route frequency expansion.

“This agreement further expands the synergy of our promotional actions in Europe, ensuring that European tourists who are interested in discovering our ecotourism in the Amazon, our afrotourism in Bahia and all the diversity of destinations and experiences that our country has”, celebrates Freixo.

According to Embratur, 182,463 Portuguese arrived in Brazil throughout 2023. In January of this year, the balance was 17,613 tourists from the Portuguese country.
