Tacla Duran confirms testimony to the Chamber on the 19th – 06/06/2023 – Panel

Lawyer Rodrigo Tacla Duran informed federal deputy Rogério Correia (PT-MG) that he will participate on June 19 in the session of the Administration and Public Service Commission of the Chamber convened to hear his testimony.

On the 16th, the minister of the STF (Federal Supreme Court) Dias Toffoli granted a temporary safe-conduct for the lawyer to come to Brazil to participate in the meeting without being arrested.

“In view of the negotiations maintained by the Chamber of Deputies with the deponent so that he is assured ‘immunity’, so that he can clarify the complaints under consideration to the parliament, I think that there is no other alternative than the granting of a safe-conduct for this purpose “, says Toffoli in his decision.

In a message to the deputy, Tacla Duran informed that he could be present as early as the 19th, the date on which the session should be scheduled. The application for invitation was approved in the committee on May 9.

The objective of the parliamentarians is to ask for the deepening of the accusations that the lawyer has made about Senator Sergio Moro (União-PR).

Tacla Duran has maintained that people close to Moro tried to extort him in the negotiation of a whistleblowing agreement in 2016. Moro denies it and claims that the lawyer speaks without evidence about matters already investigated and filed by the Attorney General’s Office.

Lawyer Rodrigo Tacla Duran became the target of Lava Jato investigators in 2016, when he was appointed by whistleblowers as a financial operator for contractors. A breach of confidentiality showed that his law firm received BRL 55 million (in unadjusted amounts) from construction companies from 2011 to 2013. As a lawyer, he worked for Odebrecht from 2011 to 2016.
