Reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is one of the advantages of this type of equipment and lithium-ion batteries use 40% less energy

Driven by the search for more sustainable and efficient solutions for moving loads in various industry sectors, the use of electric forklifts has shown significant growth in recent years. According to SNS Insider report, the electric forklift market is expected to reach a size of 152.30 billion dollars by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.1%.

One of the main drivers of this increase is the growing awareness and commitment to environmental sustainability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Companies are increasingly aware of the importance of adopting sustainable practices in their operations, and the use of electric forklifts is becoming an effective way to contribute to this goal.

“One of the main advantages of electric forklifts is the significant reduction in the emission of polluting gases. While diesel or gas forklifts release a large amount of carbon dioxide and other atmospheric pollutants, electric ones work with clean and renewable energy, contributing to the preservation of the environment and the health of people who work indoors”,

explains Silene Medeiros, CEO of Netmak.

Playing a fundamental role in the efficient operation of this equipment, electric forklift batteries are essential and are also standing out in the market. According to data from Allied Market Research, the global forklift battery market is expected to reach $11.2 billion by 2032, exhibiting a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6.5%. In this scenario, the highlight will be lithium-ion batteries, as they use 40% less energy than lead-acid batteries. “When compared to lead-acid batteries, lithium-ion batteries have a more constant discharge rate, which means the forklift maintains more consistent performance over time. This results in greater operating autonomy and less downtime for recharging, increasing the productivity of the forklift fleet”, reveals Medeiros.

In addition to environmental issues, electric forklifts also offer economic benefits for companies. Although the initial investment is a little higher, in the long term, electric forklifts are more economical due to lower maintenance costs and reduced energy consumption.

“With the advancement of technology, electric forklifts are becoming increasingly efficient and versatile. New models are being developed to meet the specific demands of different sectors, such as logistics, automotive industry, retail and agribusiness”,

comments the businesswoman.

Active in the forklift market for 20 years, Silene is CEO of Netmak, the largest forklift e-commerce in Brazil. In 2023, the company launched its own line of electric forklifts powered by lithium batteries, the NTK. “Forklifts powered by diesel and gas are still widely used, but electric ones are increasingly on the radar. We cannot be left behind, which is why our line of electrical products, of high quality and resistance, aims to meet the new demands of the market”, concludes Medeiros.

Without the emission of polluting gases, the NTK E2550 can work indoors without posing risks to people or goods. With a triplex tower, load capacity of 2.5 tons and elevation of 5 meters, the E2550 is the electric forklift with the highest energy capacity in its category, with autonomy of up to 8 hours, without downtime. Netmak expects to reach the 30 million revenue mark by the end of the year with the sale of electric forklifts.
