The Euro 2024 qualifying game between Belgium and Sweden, suspended three days ago due to the attack in Brussels that left two people dead, will not be resumed, UEFA said this Thursday (19).

The 1-1 draw was “confirmed as definitive and each team will receive a point in the Group F table”, explained the European and two countries’ federations.

Two Swedish fans were murdered last Monday (16) in a gun attack in the center of Brussels, just hours before the match at the King Baldwin stadium.

The suspected perpetrator of the attack, a Tunisian man illegally residing in Belgium, was killed during a police operation on Tuesday morning (17).

“UEFA’s decision definitively ends the game, but we will never forget the victims. Our thoughts are with their families, as well as the players, the coaching staff and the fans of the Swedish national team,” declared the Belgian federation.

“We are happy to know that UEFA has made its decision and that it suits what both federations wanted,” the Swedish federation added.

The result of the game will have no consequences in Group F of the European Cup qualifiers because Belgium is already mathematically classified, along with Austria. Sweden is already eliminated.
