This Saturday (15) six hip-hop groups compete against each other in a breaking battle, or break dance as it is popularly known, to bring culture and socialization to young people from the Miracema Housing Complex, in the North Zone of Macapá.
The competition, held with the support of the State Government, will reward the best in the male and female categories. The event takes place from 17:00, in the Living Center of the residential complex.
The news is that breaking is now considered an Olympic sport, and will be present at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France. The member of the Hip-Hop State Front, Branks Vasconcelos, explains that the competition criteria in Miracema will be the same used in the international event, as a way to increase the recognition of this sport.
“For this evaluation, we were trained in Brasilia and brought this differential to Amapá, as a way of guaranteeing that the athletes here already get used to this new type of competition with its internationally defined rules”, told the hip hopper.
The program takes elements of the style to housing developments and peripheral communities in the state, which are break, graffiti and rap with DJs and MCs. In addition to the competition, the event will feature musical performances and promises to involve the entire community.
“Hip-hop is a culture of peace, which makes it possible to rescue young people in vulnerable situations through art, music and becomes a very strong tool for social transformation”, added Branks.
