Suplicy launches Luna to compete with Marta as vice de Boulos – 01/12/2024 – Mônica Bergamo

State deputy Eduardo Suplicy will invite councilor Luna Zarattini to compete in the PT for nomination to be vice-president on Guilherme Boulos’ (PSOL) ticket for SP City Hall.

The party sealed an alliance with PSOL to nominate Boulos’ vice president. President Lula (PT) calls for Marta Suplicy to return to the party and be the candidate.

Suplicy, however, defends that the PT tradition be maintained and that the choice be made through party caucuses, in which all members vote.

“The caucuses are the instrument, par excellence, for improving democracy,” he says. A pre-candidacy for Luna, he continues, would stimulate debate about the city and “the participation of young people in the process”.

“Luna embraces some of the most important issues of citizenship: how to solve the problem of the homeless population, cracolândia, housing. We chair the human rights commissions — she from the City Council, me from the Legislative Assembly —, and we always work together. We have an exemplary affinity”, he says.

The parliamentarian is also, he says, a defender of basic citizenship income. Suplicy states that he will arrange a meeting with Luna to present the idea to her. And, next Tuesday (16), he will take the proposal to the PT municipal directory.

“I have the greatest respect for President Lula’s opinion, and for Marta. But I think that the expansion of the debate is welcome and strengthens the party and the choice that will be made.”

Suplicy also says that he does not intend to compete in the caucuses with Marta “because it is very important to maintain family unity.” He and Marta have three children and seven grandchildren.
