The Canadian representative learned about the economic potential of the Manaus Free Trade Zone

Manaus (AM) — Suframa received, on Tuesday (23), an institutional visit from the Commercial and Economic advisor and main commercial delegate of the Canadian Embassy in Brazil, Stanley Gomes. The meeting aimed to provide the Canadian representative with a broader understanding of the functioning of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM), the project’s tax incentives and, mainly, explore possibilities for attracting companies from Canada to the region.

The advisor was received by the superintendent of Suframa, Bosco Saraiva, and the deputy executive superintendent, Frederico Aguiar, in a meeting that was also attended by the head of the Representation Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) in the Northern Region (Erenor ), minister Maria Deize Camilo Jorge, and the general coordinator of International Affairs, Arthur Lisboa.

During the presentation, the strategic role of Suframa, the operability of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, and the functioning of the Free Trade Areas (FTAs) and specific incentives for the Western Amazon (AMOC), in addition to the ZFM IT Law, were highlighted.

Superintendent Bosco Saraiva — who in May last year had already received the then Canadian ambassador to Brazil, Emmanuel Kamarianakis — made the Autarchy’s technical team available to collaborate closely with Canada, with the aim of attracting companies from the northern country. American to the region.

The diplomat informed that he is in Amazonas for the first time and, since last week, he has been fulfilling a schedule of business commitments in Manaus. Stanley Gomes also stated that he had no previous information about ZFM.

In Saraiva’s opinion, the meeting enabled a valuable exchange of information, through which the Canadian representative was presented with the economic potential and benefits that the Manaus Free Trade Zone and Suframa can offer to foreign companies.

“This meeting thus marks a step in the process of establishing a fruitful collaboration between the region and Canadian companies. Suframa is fully interested in fostering international partnerships that contribute to economic development and job creation in the region. The dialogue remains open, and the expectation is that this meeting will serve as a starting point for future joint initiatives between the Manaus Free Trade Zone and Canada”,
