Manaus (AM) – The first edition of the Suframa Agricultural District (DAS) Enterprises and Business Fair is generating great expectations in the primary sector. More than 30 exhibitors (including institutions and companies) confirmed their presence at the two-day event, which will take place at Suframa’s headquarters, located at Avenida Ministro Mario Andreazza, 1424, Distrito Industrial, in Manaus, on the 17th and 18th of October.

The fair, open to the public and free of charge, will take place from 9 am to 4 pm and aims to present agricultural enterprises and promote new business in the vast DAS area, which covers 589,334 hectares in Manaus and Rio Preto da Eva. There will also be stands on site with the sale of various products from the primary sector to the general population.

Suframa’s superintendent, Bosco Saraiva, highlights that historically DAS faced challenges of irregular land occupation, which prevented it from keeping up with the growth of the Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM).

“The fair’s proposal is to seek to overcome this gap and publicize the enterprises present at DAS, which include family properties, subsistence crops and medium and large enterprises, aiming to attract investments in agro-industries, bioeconomy and ecological tourism, in addition to facilitating connection between producers, wholesalers and supermarkets”,

The expectations among the producers participating in the fair are positive, above all, in the sense of enabling new business possibilities and focusing production based on the guarantee of commercialization, whether through the industrial kitchens of the PIM factories or supermarkets and wholesalers.

“For me (the fair) is a starting point for success, where on the one hand we identify the Industrial District’s demand for agricultural products, which are often being imported from other states, and on the other we have a horizon for DAS owners can direct their production based on the guarantee of commercialization”,

said producer Valdelino Cavalcante, who is a partner in the São Pedro Group’s citrus growing business.

The same expectation of generating new business is shared by Alexandre Santiago, Rio Preto Agroindustrial manager.

“I have never seen this initiative before to promote the consolidation of the production chain in the agricultural sector and I hope it is successful, as I understand this partnership associated with the Manaus Industrial Pole to be very promising”,

he said.

Rio Preto Agroindustrial works with the cultivation of tambaqui associated with the production of açaí in land areas, irrigated with waste water from fish farming.
