It is false that a Swedish study carried out with the Pfizer vaccine against Covid-19 revealed that the vaccine modifies the genetic code and that this will cause epidemics of “autoimmune diseases, cancer and infertility”, as the doctor claims in the video.

As verified by Projeto Comprova, the authors decided to carry out research with liver cells after pre-clinical studies showed reversible liver effects in animals that received the Pfizer injection and after an analysis showed that Sars-CoV-2 RNA can be transcribed reversely and integrated into the genome of human cells. The study cited here measures the effect of the Pfizer vaccine on liver cell lines in the laboratory, under experimental conditions, and not on humans or any other living being, which is pointed out as limiting the research by the authors themselves. Furthermore, it does not make predictions about any disease.

They concluded that the vaccine enters liver cells in culture medium six hours after administration and that DNA converted from messenger RNA appears in host cells, but they point out that they do not know whether the converted DNA is integrated into the cells’ DNA, i.e. , if it compromises the genome. Experts consulted by Comprova highlight that other studies confirm that there is no modification of DNA by the vaccine.

To Comprova, Pfizer stated that, as of October 5th, it had distributed more than 4.6 billion doses of the ComiRNAty vaccine in more than 181 countries. According to the company, there is, to date, no safety alert or concern, so the benefit of vaccination continues to outweigh any risk.

The Ministry of Health reinforced that vaccines undergo a strict quality assessment process by the National Institute for Health Quality Control of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, the institution responsible for analyzing the quality of immunobiologicals purchased and distributed by the SUS (Unified Health System) .
