Automakers count 30,000 imported vehicles parked in yards, awaiting release of documents by Ibama (Brazilian Environmental Institute) servers, which are heading towards the third month of the shutdown. Ten days ago, there were 18 thousand.

The problem mainly affects Chinese electric car manufacturers BYD and compromises the operations of Stellantis, Volkswagen, Toyota and GWM.

When importing vehicles, Ibama issues the import license, certifying that they follow the required environmental standards.

Ibama employees claim that their career has not been valued by the Lula (PT) government, even after years of problems in the administration of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

Among the demands are a new career plan, salary increases and better working conditions for the sector. Negotiations continue.

When consulted, Anfavea (National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers) said it was following the case, but did not want to comment. Ibama did not respond until the publication of this report.
