The Federal Supreme Court (STF) formed a majority this Friday (23) to reject a complaint against PT president, federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PR), and former minister Paulo Bernardo, in the “PT gang”. The action was opened in the context of Lava Jato. In March, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) changed its position and spoke out against the complaint due to lack of evidence, reported the portal g1.

Minister Edson Fachin, rapporteur of the case, understood that the acquittal of the other defendants in Federal Justice should be considered, in addition to the change in understanding of the PGR. The rapporteur was accompanied by ministers Nunes Marques, Alexandre de Moraes, Carmen Lúcia, Dias Toffoli and Luiz Fux.

In 2017, the then Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, denounced to the STF, among other people, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and former President Dilma Rousseff (PT) for alleged conspiracy to divert resources from Petrobras, BNDES and the Ministry of Planning.

The inquiry was dubbed the “PT gang” and was considered the “mother investigation” of Lava Jato because it would supposedly indicate the leadership of the corruption scheme. However, the group was acquitted by the Federal Court. The action that still remained in the STF was the investigation into Gleisi and Paulo Bernardo.
