Brasilia DF) – The minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), André Mendonça, voted to reject the complaint against 200 people who participated in the coup acts on January 8 in Brasília. On that occasion, the buildings of the STF, the Palácio do Planalto and the National Congress were vandalized by vandals.
In the same judgment, Mendonça voted for the receipt of the complaint against another 50 defendants. The minister accepted the accusation only for those who participated in the depredation, not including those who were arrested at the Army Headquarters, a day after the acts.
With that, the score is 5 to 1 for the receipt of complaints against the accused. The trial began last Wednesday (3) and continues until Monday (8), in the virtual plenary of the STF, a modality in which ministers deposit their votes electronically, without in-person deliberation.
The vote of the rapporteur for the cases, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, in favor of receiving the complaints, was the first to be entered into the system. He was followed by ministers Dias Toffoli, Cármen Lúcia, Edson Fachin and Rosa Weber, who also accepted the accusations. Still missing to vote, Gilmar Mendes, Luís Roberto Barroso, Nunes Marques and Luiz Fux. Due to the retirement of Ricardo Lewandowski, the Court does not have the vote of the 11th minister.
