This Friday (8), the ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) begin to analyze 48 motions for declaration presented by the defense of defendants in the investigation investigating the acts of January 8th. The appeals contest the complaint presented by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).
In total, 39 appeals are against complaints for alleged participation in planning the acts. The other nine embargoes refer to the accusation of participation in the invasion of the buildings of the Three Powers.
The analysis of resources will take place in the Virtual Plenary, when ministers simply present their votes without discussion. The trial is expected to last until December 18th.
Minister Alexandre de Moraes has already stated on other occasions that the complaint formulated by the PGR adequately details the alleged “criminal facts”.
The acts of 8/1 are investigated in Inquiry No. 4,922, which investigates the crimes of armed criminal association, violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup d’état and qualified damage.
The alleged intellectual authors of the protests are being investigated as part of Inquiry No. 4,921 and are charged with incitement to crime and criminal association.
This week, the Chamber’s Financial Oversight and Control Committee (CFFC) heard complaints from family members and lawyers of the 8/1 defendants about violations of human rights and defense prerogatives.
Calls against the violation of prisoners’ rights have intensified following the death of businessman Cleriston Pereira, who died in Papuda after having several warnings about his health condition ignored by Moraes.
