State Government and Brazilian Army celebrate cooperation for the benefit of Amapá – News of Brazil

Cooperation between the State Government and the Brazilian Army has benefited Amapá through various services, from structural works to social actions. This Tuesday, the 17th, governor Clécio Luís received a visit from the Military Commander of the North (CMN), Luciano Guilherme, and other generals of the organization at the Palácio do Setentrião.
On the occasion, the governor thanked the partnerships with the Army and the military for providing assistance to Amapá civilians, such as during the Covid-19 pandemic; in the 1st edition of the Mais Sorriso project, in the Wajãpi indigenous land; works on BR-156, in addition to providing area for the construction of the new Emergency Hospital (HE) in Macapá.
“In this battle of challenges facing Amapá, the Army is a great partner, we have a very good relationship. Every time we ask for support from the Army we are met with great availability. This makes a difference in the provision of services to the population”commented the governor.
The delegation, led by brigadier general Marcus Vinícius Gomes Bonifácio, commander of the 22nd Jungle Infantry Brigade (BIS), was also made up of division general Alcio Costa, commander of the 8th Military Region; brigadier general Sá Corrêa, head of the Operations Coordination Center/CMN; and brigadier general Francisco de Souza, chief of staff of the CMN.
The CMN generals invited the governor to participate in an operation with American military personnel in November, in Clevelândia do Norte (Oiapoque) and Ferreira Gomes.
The Northern Military Command is an institution of the Brazilian Army created with the objective of increasing operational capacity, administrative management and providing better employment conditions for the Land Force in the western Amazon, which covers the states of Amapá, Pará, Maranhão and the north of Tocantins. It integrates 30 military organizations, totaling around 12 thousand men and women.
