Interim technician announces players chosen for games on June 17 and 20; list has four debutants: Vanderson, Ayrton Lucas, Nino and Joelinton

The interim coach of the Brazilian national team, Ramon Menezes, released this Sunday morning (28), the players called up for the friendlies against Guinea It is Senegal. The games will be in Barcelona, ​​Spain, and Lisbon, Portugal, on the 17th and 20th of June, respectively.

• Midfielders: André (Fluminense), Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle), Casemiro (Manchester United), Joelinton (Newcastle), Lucas Paquetá (West Ham) and Raphael Veiga (Palmeiras);
• Attackers: Malcom (Zenit), Pedro (Flamengo), Richarlison (Tottenham), Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Rony (Palmeiras) and Vini Jr (Real Madrid).

The list has 14 remaining players from the Qatar World Cup and four newcomers: full-backs Vanderson and Ayrton Lucas, defender Nino and midfielder Joelinton. Ramon Menezes treated Malcom like a rookie in the national team, but he had already been called up twice, although he hasn’t played with hopscotch yet.

The players will present themselves on the 12th, in Barcelona. In the city, the team will train five times before the match against Guinea, at Espanyol’s Cornellà-El Prat stadium. The next match, against Senegal, will be at José Alvalade, Sporting’s stadium.

“Since my opportunity here, we have brought some players because they are performing well. We are working towards bringing two players to each position. In all positions you will see that there is a player who was in the World Cup, which is also important, to support the athletes who are coming for the first time. The Brazilian team is always open to athletes who are performing. Ayrton is doing very well, he was already in the national team. And I’m sure it will help us a lot’,

To announce the call-up at the CBF headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro, Ramon Menezes left the under-20 team in Argentina, where he is playing in the category’s World Cup. On Saturday, the coach led the team to a 2-0 victory over Nigeria.

Initially, the CBF worked with the possibility of disclosing the list in a virtual way, but it changed plans and promoted a “round trip” of the coach to Brazil.

The U-20 World Cup final takes place on June 11, the day before the presentation of the senior team.

“First, the president had already warned me, and in no way did I lose focus. I passed this on to the athletes and I only spoke after yesterday’s game, that I would come here to Brazil, that it was time off. But total focus on the Worlds. Today, as it’s my day off, I made a point of coming here. I’m a professional, I’m a guy who works a lot. So, I face going through that.”

This is Ramon’s second interim call-up. His debut was in March, in the 2-1 loss to Morocco.

The national team has been without a coach since Tite left. He confirmed that he would be stepping down following Croatia’s World Cup elimination on 9 December, and signed the release of his contract on 17 January.

During this period, the CBF placed the Italian Carlo Ancelotti as a priority to take over the Selection. He, however, has a contract with Real Madrid until June 2024 and says he intends to fulfill it. The expectation is that there will be a breakthrough in the definition of the new coach of Brazil in the coming weeks, be it Ancelotti or another chosen one.

Ricardo Gomes was once again chosen to be the coordinator of the Selection in these friendlies, just as he was against Morocco.

After that Fifa date, Brazil will return to the field in September, for the World Cup Qualifiers.
