SP surpasses 50 deaths from dengue and capital has 3rd death – 03/09/2024 – Health

The state of São Paulo has recorded 51 deaths caused by dengue fever this year, according to information this Saturday (9) from the state government’s monitoring panel. There are four more deaths compared to the 47 recorded until this Friday (8).

There are still 151 deaths potentially caused by the disease that are under investigation in the state.

In the capital of São Paulo, the city hall reported that the city reached its third death from dengue this year. The victim is a 49-year-old woman living in Capão Redondo (south zone).

The initial symptoms appeared on March 3 and treatment took place in a private hospital. She died on Thursday (7).

To date, throughout the state there are 452,021 reports of patients who may have been infected, with 177,384 confirmed cases and 273,063 considered probable.

State data is updated daily by the State Department of Health, based on the SUS (Unified Health System) notification system and can be accessed here.

With almost 180 thousand confirmed cases, the incidence of the disease exceeds 300 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, the WHO (World Health Organization) criterion for classifying an epidemic.

In the city of São Paulo, the number of cases of the disease reached 25,182 this year, according to the Municipal Health Department.

The municipality claims to have 12 thousand agents working to combat dengue and that it carried out 2.8 million actions this year, such as property inspections, blocking of breeding sites and nebulization.
