Three more deaths from dengue were recorded in São Paulo, this Friday (8). The state has a total of 47 deaths due to the disease and 154 under investigation, according to data from the government monitoring panel.

The spread of dengue has reached a critical stage in 134 municipalities in São Paulo, according to information from the State Department of Health. There are 170,000 confirmed cases and the incidence of the disease has exceeded 300 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to WHO criteria (Organization World Health Organization) to classify an epidemic.

The capital of São Paulo has a total of 39,236, with 2 deaths and 39 under investigation. Control and containment represent a significant challenge for public health authorities given the scenario.

The cities with the most deaths are, respectively: Guarulhos (5), Taubaté (4), Pindamonhangaba (4), Campinas (3), Marília (3), Pederneiras (3), Bariri (2), Franca (2), Jacareí (2), Ribeirão Preto (2), São Paulo (2), Batatais (1), Bauru (1), Bebedouro (1), Boracéia (1), Bragança Paulista (1), Iguape (1), Mairiporã (1 ), Matão (1), Mauá (1), Parisi (1), São José dos Campos (1), Serrana (1), Suzano (1), Tremembé (1) and Votuporanga (1).

The country recorded more than 1 million probable cases of dengue in the first two months of the year, making it a public health emergency in six states and the Federal District.
