SP government creates indigenous environmental program council – 02/06/2023 – Panel

The government of São Paulo created a management committee with 20 indigenous leaders to monitor the execution of a program that remunerates indigenous peoples who provide environmental services and biodiversity protection in five state parks.
The Payments for Environmental Services Program (PSA) – Guardians of the Forest, of the Fundação Florestal, was created at the end of last year and will have a budget of R$ 600 thousand, benefiting 134 families.
They receive per diems for services such as territorial monitoring, forest restoration and tourism.
The launch of the committee will take place this Tuesday (7), at the Secretariat for the Environment, Infrastructure and Logistics, with the presence of the ministry’s secretary, Natália Resende.
