Six Pelci athletes are medalists in the Amazon Jiu-Jitsu Pro Cup

Manaus (AM) – In the competition for the Amazonas Jiu-Jitsu Pro Cup, six athletes from the Sport and Leisure Project in the Capital and Interior (Pelci) were medalists at the Amadeu Teixeira Arena, on Saturday (4). The competition had the support of the Government of Amazonas, through the Amazonas de Alto Rendimento Foundation (Faar) and had more than 800 competitors.
“We were happy to know that Pelci has been bringing results in the most diverse modalities. Our goal is to promote all the pearls of the sport, who have been winning their titles, so that Amazonas is always at the highest place on the podium”, highlighted Jorge Oliveira, CEO of Faar.
Athletes Alex Daniel, Antônio Francisco, Bianca Araújo, Emilly Kaylane, Raphaelly Oliveira and Jonathan Maxwell, medalists in the Amazonas Cup of Jiu-jitsu Pro, are part of Pelci’s core of fights, at Academia Norte Gold Team, located in the Santa Etelvina neighborhood, where more than 80 young people and children, with free jiu-jitsu and wrestling classes.
Showing the strength of the sport and overcoming limits, Antônio Francisco is a para-athlete, has generalized dystonia and also reached 1st place in the championship.
“Sport is for everyone. This achievement is very rewarding, I’m sure that one day I’ll make my dream come true of competing outside of Amazonas, who knows how to fight at a world championship, representing Pelci”, highlighted the bantamweight champion.
Organized by the Amazonas Federation of Professional Jiu-Jitsu (FAJJPRO), the Amazonas Jiu-Jitsu Pro Cup opened the modality’s activities calendar in 2023. Highlight in the children’s and youth category, the orange belt athlete, Alex Daniel, highlighted the importance of the title.
“I’m very happy, I got the gold medal at the championship, I had four fights and won by submission. My opponents were strong, but I was more prepared than them”, commented the medalist.
With duels in the Junior, Children, Youth, Adults and Master categories, the great champion of the event was Associação Nabil Jiu-jitsu (484 points); followed by Aníbal Fight Jiu-Jitsu (398 points); Clube Pina BJJ (363 points); in fourth place; White House Jiu-jitsu School (208 points); in fifth position; AJ Jiu-jitsu Team (158 points).
